New Co-Chairs for the Hampshire LD Partnership Board

Monday, 13th January 2020

Welcome to our new co-chairs of the LD Partnership Board Cllr Fran Carpenter and Richard Dore. Hampshire’s Learning Disability Partnership Board was established over 15 years ago to help improve the lives of adults in the county living with learning disabilities, as well as their families and carers. Members of the Board include those who are supported by adult social care, family and carer representatives, as well as a representative from both the County Council’s adult social care service, and the NHS. Commenting on his appointment, Richard said: “I enjoy being a rep for people with learning disabilities because it gives me a voice to speak up for others to let the authorities and organisations know our views and opinions on the matters that are important to us. I am a good listener and people know me well.” Councillor Liz Fairhurst, Hampshire County Council’s Executive Member for Adult Social Care and Health said: ”Our aim is for every adult with a learning disability regardless of their needs to be supported and have the same rights, choices and opportunities in life as everybody else. The work of the Board is crucial in delivering this and I am delighted that Richard has agreed to join as co-chair “ his considerable experience and enthusiasm will be a great asset to the Board.” Co-chair, Councillor Fran Carpenter said: “I am very pleased to be working closely with Richard going forward “ the success of the Board and its works relies heavily on the input of committed individuals like Richard who are keen to champion the interests of all adults in Hampshire living with learning disabilities.”
